For School Supplies Giveaway

Some 3,000 people turned out Saturday for State Senator Jose Peralta'
annual Back to School supplies giveaway in Corona, near Lefrak City.

More than 1,800 backpacks were distributed to children, who also had a chance to have their faces painted, jump into a bounce house or scurry their way up a rock-climbing wall.

"The kids had fun and their parents saved some money on schools supplies,"

said Senator Peralta. "I wish them all nothing but the best in the new school year. And I can't thank our sponsors enough for their generosity."

This year's Back to School giveaway was possible thanks to the support of Woodside on the Move, the LeFrak Organization, Emblem Health, Fidelis Care, Metro Plus, WellCare, Costco, Time Warner Cable, Queens Center, Dependable Office Supplies, Golden Mega Enterprise, North Queens Homeowners and Civic Organization, Sherwood Village Tenants Association, Fashion Accessory Bazaar, White Castle and the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau.
